Chubu Centrair International Airport opened for business in 2005 and was designed to replace the old Nagoya Airport as the chief international gateway to the Nagoya and Chubu regions.

The airport is highly modern and stands on a man-made island within Ise Bay, south of Nagoya. Chubu Airport offers all essential facilities, such as banks, ATMs and bureaux de change, as well as a plethora of restaurants for dining and refreshments, shops for luxury and last-minute purchases, and a business centre for business travellers. WiFi access is also available throughout the airport and at Internet kiosks in selected areas, and various ground transport options allow you to travel into nearby Nagoya with ease. Passengers will find bus transport and trains connecting the airport to the city and other major Chubu destinations. Taxis can also be found outside and car hire travel desks are situated inside the terminal.

Visitors with rental vehicles will find their opportunities for daytrips increased considerably with a rental vehicle, removing them from the restrictions associated with public transportation.
